Time has changed & have changed for the better. Compared to a few decades back, a lot of women these days are leading great examples for other women to follow. It has always been easier for men to succeed because they are born with a Golden spoon wherein there is NO pressure to excel in all spheres of life. In order to achieve a sense of achievement, all that a man has to do is Earn Better. Good enough to ensure that your family is well-fed, well-traveled & secured.

However, the calculations change when we talk about a successful woman. There is a long list of Household, Kids, Professional, Personal chores that need to be balanced in order to qualify under the average category.

So, it will be fair to say that there is not ONE person BUT a team of people behind a successful woman.

P.S: Before we move further, this is a light-hearted article intended for light reading. Please don’t get offended.

Let’s quickly talk about the team of people that I think make a successful woman:

1. Family: What would we do without them? They are the key ingredients behind the recipe of success. I personally feel that one can never succeed if your family is NOT supportive. Be it your husband, kids, in laws, parents & any other relative…..they all together help to make a woman successful. So, yeah…if you are planning to take that 1 step forward ..be it education, job, business & whatever that sets your heart on fire…Don’t forget to keep your family close to your heart & Go… there will be no one stopping you, lady!  

2. Househelpers: Ahh! I am SOOO thankful for the house helpers around me. They are in fact a blessing in disguise. Good House Helpers really do help you excel in places where you can’t be. Imagine a scenario where you are busy fulfilling your official duties, you can do them at peace knowing that your family won’t go to bed empty stomach because your House Helper is there to feed them hot dinner on time. So, 3 cheers to House helpers!!

3. Friends: Friends are so underrated. I mean I know so many women who feel guilty of meeting their friends over a cup of coffee. They somehow feel that they are being judged for being a bad mother or wife who hangs around with friends instead of finishing household chores. My question to them is – How about Mental health?  Friends bring so much joy, laughter &  freshness to your monotonous routine & I think it should be made mandatory for everyone to meet their friends at least ONCE a month to break the monotony & help you restart your brain again! I honestly feel that this will also help us establish stronger social connects & fight against Depression too. I personally look forward to meeting mine at least once a month because apart from helping me stay updated with gossip, they also help me restart my brain & get back to work or my role in high spirits.

Things I learned in my 9 years of entrepreneurship

Last week, I completed my 9 years of entrepreneurship journey. Honestly, I have mix feelings about the whole journey. I am definitely proud of what we as a team have achieved AND I am way more excited about things that are coming my way. So, without getting much into those details, let’s quickly talk about my learnings as an entrepreneur:

1. Always judged for being a WOMAN: No matter, what you have to say, I have experienced it & I am telling you that being a woman doesn’t get you kind clients, best team & all other good things. We live in male dominant society & everybody is constantly questioning your capabilities- your team, vendors, peers…almost everyone tends to judge you & your authority. So? So, you prove your worth time & again & continue proving it until either they accept you as a sensible woman around or you just get done with them & move forward in life.

2. Sweat, Tears & Anxiety: If I have to define the rewards that come with entrepreneurship, these are 3 words that will surely make a way in my definition of being an entrepreneur. If we keep the money element aside, all that is left behind is days, days & more days of sweat, tear, anxiety, long work hours, endless cups of tea & some packets biscuits.

3. Money can buy Happiness: Well, don’t judge me now!! By Happiness, I don’t mean family, precious memories or true love BUT money can surely buy fancy toys for kids, good food, travel to exotic locations, enriching experiences, comfortable home & a line of maids. So, yeah!

4. Face your own fears: It’s easier done than said. Yes, it’s easier done than said! Just don’t think too much, go with the flow & do it. The problem comes when we start overthinking & underdoing so the advice I would like to give from my experience is focused on doing rather than proving!

5. Don’t Give a Damm: I have learned it the hard way but I am thankful that I learned it sooner than later. If you are planning to do something unusual, don’t bother too much over assuming society’s reaction. They will judge you anyway. If you are good, you are fake. If you are honest, you are a bitch. If you are aggressive, you are worse & if you are too polite, you are double-faced so my point is… why care??

6. Don’t Be Polite: YES! I have seen ex-employees opening their companies with similar names, seen cousins opening similar ventures & trying their best to keep it a secret, seen friends trying to be extra sweet & get all the information they possibly can….I survived it all by saying “No” when required. No pleasing, No awkward situations, just a plain NO did the magic.

So, all in all, I am not bitter towards life, towards relatives, towards friends or towards ANYONE in specific. I am just sharing my experiences so far.

These last 9 years have taught me to be appreciative of the people I have in my life i.e, my closed circle of the family who has stood by me through thick & thin.
